Group helps Prince’s Trust to reach a £1million

Leading recruitment and training business Acorn, which is Concept's parent company, has held a host of activities to raise money for a new Prince's Trust scheme, Million Makers.  The aim of the scheme is to reach £1million by the end of January.

The scheme challenges teams to make as much money as possible from an initial investment from the Trust of £1,500. Through the various events held since July the Acorn Group's team has so far raised nearly £3,000, in addition to the initial investment.

The team hosted a fundraising activity day, called Go Commando, at Llangorse Activity Centre. The charity day attracted teams from companies such as Druidstone  Construction, Panasonic, DAS and NatWest and raised over £2,500.

Sarah Griffiths, marketing manager from the Group said: "The Go Commando event proved to be a fun-filled, action-packed day for all 11 teams involved.  Every-one took part in the physical challenges which included abseiling, wall climbing and a dingle scramble, as well as the mental tasks.  We're very grateful to everyone at the Llangorse Activity Centre who helped us host an extremely successful charity event and Grimes Engravers who donated some impressive medals and trophies for the winning team"

The Acorn Group also ran a Christmas competition throughout December in which local schools in the area have competed to design a Christmas card. The winning designs came from Jessica Southall from High Cross School, Caitlyn Price from Glanhowy, and Grace Scaplehorn from Pentrepoeth.

The cards, printed by AST and envelopes supplied by COS, are on sale now and all money goes towards the Prince's Trust Million Makers total sum. So far the cards have raised £250.

Sarah continued: "The Prince's Trust gives practical and finance support to young people who need it the most and I'm delighted we have been able to raise this money for it.  Again I would like to thank the companies who continue to support us, AST and COS provided the cards and envelopes free of charge, allowing all money raised to go straight to the worthwhile charity."
